Since 2013.10.04~2016.04.18

My 2nd formal job of my life.

It's UE/HKG  (Taiwan Branch)- sea freight operation, which means I need to deal with all matters about sea freight tranportaion related.

Headquater in Hong Kong and we're one of the Branch in Taipei.

Our main mission is to make sure to deliver cargo to destinaion which our Korea agent request.

For this 2.5 year, I've learned a lot about operation in practice not only in the book.

First is learning system, cause it's different system in each company,

so I have to acknowledge how to use it, and knows who is our main client.

We've handled most of assigned cargo from Korea agent, it's triangle trade from Taiwan to Vietnam.

Due to we're a small forwarder, so we have to handle all route not only Vietnam,

like Incheon, Busan, Osaka, Nagoya, Indonesia, Lax, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Durban,  Felixstowe, Australia, Dubail...etc.

Every routes has it's own regulation, and the amend fee/fined is very high amount once you want to revise b/l detail after carrier already submit b/l to customs.

(etc. usd800/per time)

So, we're working in a stressful circustoms if there is any changed.

Beside, not only in paper work, we have to communicate with all 3rd party,

like domestic shipper, customs broker, carrier, co-loader,  foreign agent, accounting person....

So the second thing is you have to deal with the process goes smoothly.

When we received instrution from agent, you need to contact with shipper and know cargo ready day,

approximately qty(cbm), po#, in-charge person... that we can know you want to ship by LCL or FCL.

Then, we have to send email to agent that waiting their confirmation for this shipment to make sure this is okay to arrange.

In the same time, we need to booking space from carrier or co-loader and ask for ocean freight and it's vaild date.

Arrange vessel schedule to match their request.

In the cut-off day, we have to do HB/L(Bill of Lading) to submit to carrier, and open debit note to both our shipper and agent.

So we have to remember the doccument fee/seal fee/telex fee and selling rate for every party, it's nessary cause it's releated in our profit.

Once vessel on board, we have to send pre-advise to our agent, this means cargo already stuff in Taiwan without delay and pre-advise will shows

ETD,ETA to enclose this shipment's information.

If you meet delay unfortunatly, oh my god, you need to ask for carrier to get a "delay notice", you have to find out why this vessel is delay?

you may get some bad emotion from shipper or agent about delay their schedule, although it's not your fault............

After cargo arrived destination, we' need to track for POD, when the cargo arrived and D/O release date.

Third, With big patient that you can handle this job.

You will meet a lot of differenent troblems everydays,

shipper can't catch this week vessel, b/l still can't telex release due to they're waiting for payment from cnee, vessel delay, amend b/l detail(nightmare:(

but you can make a lot of friends in this job.

I think, every job is not always intersting, but you can find out which part is you like it and keep going going, going,

It's not the end, just comma, take a rest, then keep working~Enjoy it.
